| Faculty: George Biros CSELabs is a research group, led by Associate Professor George Biros, focused on solving problems using algorithms and equations. Lab members use a program known as Dendro to help explore their work. Dendro is a suite of parallel algorithm for the discretization and solution of partial differential equations that require discretization of second-order elliptic operators. | Fundamental Algorithmic and Statistical Tools Laboratory Faculty: Alexander Gray The FASTlab performs research on practical yet theoretically rigorous tools for fundamental algorithmic and statistical problems arising in challenging applications, including state-of-the-art data analysis (machine learning/data mining) on massive/complex datasets, and related important problems in applied mathematics. Headed by Assistant Professor Alexander Gray. |
| Faculty: Richard Vuduc Headed by Assistant Professor Richard Vuduc, HPCgarage is a research group focused on computing, data mining and parallel algorithms. Some of our current research topics include CSE computations in the Concurrent Collections programming model, “wildly” asynchronous parallel algorithms, autotuned parallel n-body computations, and autotuned sparse matrix kernels for heterogeneous architectures. | Parallel and Distributed Simulation Faculty: Richard Fujimoto, George Riley, Thom McLean, Kalyan Perumalla The Parallel and Distributed Simulation (PADS) Lab focuses on five areas of research: parallel simulation systems, federated simulations, network modeling and simulation, interactive simulation, and visualization. We concentrate our work around three primary areas of application: aviation, battle management and telecommunications. |
Statistical Machine Learning and Visualization Lab Faculty: Guy Lebanon The Statistical Machine Learning and Visualization Lab is a research group focused on machine learning and visualization of high dimensional data. Our research emphasizes statistics and computation, and includes both basic research and applied studies. Headed by Assistant Professor Guy Lebanon. | Data Mining and Information Retrieval Lab Faculty: Hongyuan Zha The Data Mining and Information Retrieval Lab focuses on applications of data mining and machine learning algorithms to real-world problems. Our current research areas are information retrieval and Web search, machine learning algorithms, and intelligent social computing. Our activities have been supported by NSF, Microsoft, HP and Yahoo. |
| Faculty: David Bader The Bader High Performance Computing (HPC) Lab focuses on the design and fast implementation of multicore and parallel algorithms for compute- and data-intensive applications such as analyzing massive-scale social networks, folding large RNA viruses such as HIV and Influenza, tracking end preventing epidemic spread of disease and understanding the evolution of species. We are at the forefront in the design of exascale computers that can tackle these problems. |
